Nissan North America has named Allyson Witherspoon its chief marketing officer for the United States, according to a Nov. 19 report press release. She replaces Marisstella Marinkovic, who recently left the company.
Witherspoon currently leads global marketing at Nissan Motor Co. as global chief marketing officer and corporate vice president of global marketing, branding and merchandising in Yokohama, Japan.. He will retain those roles in addition to his new position.
As CMO in the United States, he will oversee Nissan’s communications and media and support brand equity and customer experience enhancements, the company said. In her U.S. marketing role, Witherspoon will report to Vinay Shahani, senior vice president of Nissan U.S. marketing and sales.
Witherspoon previously served as Chief Marketing Officer of Nissan North America From April 2019 to March 2023before being promoted role of the global CMO.
Witherspoon has more than 20 years of automotive marketing experience, most of it at Nissan and its luxury vehicle division Infiniti. His previous roles at the company include general manager, global brand engagement for Nissan Motor Co. and director of marketing communications for Infiniti Motor Co., according to his LinkedIn profile.
“We are fortunate to have Allyson join the U.S. leadership team, which puts us in a strong position to make rapid progress in our efforts to transform Nissan’s image in this critical market for the company,” Shahani said in ‘announcement. “We are at a critical moment, which requires strong leadership for the brand and in our marketing efforts.”
