Randy Parker has been named CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America, effective January 1, 2025 announced the automaker Tuesday.
Parker succeeds José Muñoz, which will become Hyundai Motor Co president and CEO next month. Muñoz’s promotion is part of the sweeping leadership changes aimed at what the automaker described as “promoting success in an uncertain global economic environment.”
The company said Parker, who will also remain CEO of Hyundai Motor America, will oversee all Hyundai operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico and Genesis in the United States and Canada. It will also operate Hyundai’s manufacturing facilities in Alabama and Georgia.
The automaker said Parker was instrumental in driving sales growth in the United States, setting all-time sales records for three consecutive years. He joined Hyundai in May 2019 as vice president of national sales and was promoted to senior vice president in February 2021 before being named CEO of Hyundai Motor America in August 2022.
Parker has been in the automotive industry for over three decades. He previously served as vice president of Infinite North America. He also held leadership roles at General Motors, GM Acceptance Corp. and Nissan.
“Randy Parker is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of driving sales growth and effectively serving our dealer partners, customers, employees and other stakeholders,” Muñoz said in a statement. “As I transition into the role of global president and CEO, I am confident in the continued momentum of the North American market under Randy’s leadership.”
Parker said he is looking forward to building on the company’s recent sales growth.
“North America has become one of the most important markets for Hyundai globally,” Parker said in a statement. “We have a clear vision to deliver exceptional products and enhance the customer experience, while being flexible to changing consumer demands and market dynamics.
