The polls say so on a razor’s edge, but as Americans turn out to vote, Thailand’s superstar hippo appears to be predicting that former President Donald Trump will win back the White House.
Moo Deng took the internet by storm with his adorable antics at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo, quickly becoming a staple of social media memes and inspiring a slew of products.
Now the four-month-old pygmy hippo, whose name means “bouncing pig,” has predicted a comeback victory for the Republican over Democrat Kamala Harris.
When offered two plates of carved fruit, each decorated with the name of one of the candidates, Moo Deng chose Trump, posted on social media by the zoo. The video shows the dish bearing Harris’ name being eaten by his mother.
Moo Deng proved a particular hit in the United States, where comedian Bowen Yang played her in a “Saturday Night Live” comedy sketch.
She was also placed in an unofficial presidential poll conducted by “The Tonight Show” in September, beating both Trump and Harris and getting 93% of the vote.
While the divination abilities of hippos are largely untested, other animals have achieved worldwide fame by predicting the outcome of world events, most notably the legendary Paul the Octopus.
